PORTFOLIO: PARKS & RECREATION
The Roundhouse at Alyeska Museum
Girdwood, Alaska
RIM was involved in the restoration of the Alyeska Round House in Girdwood, which is on the National Historic Register. Given the unique conditions of construction on Mount Alyeska, a design/build approach was used with phasing sequences for seasonal construction.
The Round House was renovated to its original shape with three major components included in the design:
Ski Patrol activities in the lower portion of the building.
Conference Room in the upper portion of the building with exterior decking.
Interpretive Design to recognize the cultural and historic values of the Girdwood Valley and the Kenai Mountain Turnagain Arm National Heritage Corridor.
